It has been said that you should never drink your calories. Luckily that doesn’t seem to apply to partaking in a daily glass of red wine. Well known for its many health benefits, red wine can now be listed as a fat burner as well!
Resveratrol a compound found in red wine has been shown to target the metabolism by activating a protein called sirtuin to aid in the breakdown of existing fats. In addition, resveratrol also stops the formation of new fat cells. Being that red wine is the only food that contains a sufficient amount of resveratrol its positive role in the prevention of chronic diseases and maintenance of a healthy body weight shouldn’t be ignored.
Be careful, however, all of the aforementioned health benefits can be undone by consuming too much. How much is too much? As a general rule women can enjoy one glass a day while men can have two.
Following this rule will help you avoid the caloric and carcinogenic side-effects that can be brought on by consuming a large amount of alcohol.
